For a detailed explanation of how to successfully establish a connection between Hololight Space (Server) and Hololight Space (Client) in a local network, please refer to
this comprehensive guide.
For more information on how to successfully establish a connection Hololight Space (Server) and Hololight Space (Client) on a cloud basis, we kindly refer to
this guide.
Managing Hololight Space (Client)
Local Network
In this tab a connection between Hololight Space (Server) and Hololight Space (Client) in a local network can be established.
Here you can configure whether the connection port should be displayed or not. In addition, the default port can be set manually. The original default value is 9999 and can be restored via "Reset". The connection port needs to be displayed if you choose to use any other than the default port.
Cloud
In this tab a connection between Hololight Space (Server) and Hololight Space (Client) on a cloud basis can be established.
Servers
In this tab, the last IP addresses entered are displayed along with the connection port. These IP addresses, can be labeled and favorited by clicking on the "Bookmark" tab and can be selected there for connecting. A connection attempt is started as soon as the IP address is pressed.
Bookmarks
Here you will find the bookmarks that you have previously set in the "Server" tab. A connection attempt is started — like in the "Server" tab — as soon as the IP address is pressed.
About
In the "About" tab you will find a link to Holo-Light's website as well as the version number of the Hololight Space client application.
Managing Hololight Space (Server)
Server Status
IP Address
The IP address of your server is displayed here. Several IP addresses can be displayed in the drop-down menu with their network affiliation and connection port.
The connection port increments with each newly launched Hololight Space (Server) instance if any are already started. The port range is from 9999 to 10003.
Connection Status HMD
This item indicates whether there is currently a session between Hololight Space (Client) and Hololight Space (Server). The default value is "Disconnected". When a connection is established, this changes to "Connected".
Hololight Space Spectator App (iOS)
Via "Start Server" a server instance can be started within Hololight Space (Server), which can be connected to Hololight Space Spectator.
This item indicates whether there is currently a session between Hololight Space (Client) and Hololight Space (Server). The default value is "Disconnected".
When a connection is established, this changes to "Connected".
Connection QR Code
Here you can find the Connection QR Code, with which you can establish a connection between Hololight Space (Server) and (Client).
Please be aware that each network affiliation has its own unique Connection QR Code. When attempting to establish a connection, the correct network should be selected from the drop-down menu.
Live Stream
Once a session is established between Hololight Space (Server) and Hololight Space (Client), the Live Stream functionality is enabled.
This allows you to display what is happening in the connected client application within Hololight Space (Server). The background is intentionally black.
Live XR Stream
Once a session is established between Hololight Space (Server) and Hololight Space (Client), the Live XR Stream functionality is enabled.
This allows you to display what is happening in the connected client application within Hololight Space (Server). In contrast to the Live Stream feature, the real world environment can be observed here.
Depth Buffer (Experimental)
Please be aware that the Depth Buffer feature is currently in an experimental phase.
The "Depth Buffer" functionality aims to elevate the quality and stability of holograms within the world space.
Enabling or disabling this feature during an ongoing Hololight Space session may lead to the following outcomes:
- Client Disconnection.
- UI Interaction Freezing.
We strongly recommend to initiate a new Hololight Space session by terminating and reconnecting the client application after enabling or disabling this feature.
About
Exit
This allows you to exit the Hololight Space application.
Language Setting
The language setting of Hololight Space can be configured here. You can choose between German, English and Japanese.
Alternatively, the language can also be changed within Hololight Space (Client) in the "Options" menu.
The language of the Hololight Space (Client) interface in the disconnected state cannot be changed as of now.
Bandwidth Setting
Here you can set which bandwidth is available to the Hololight Space application. The bandwidth value depends on which device (HoloLens 2 or Quest 2) the application is running on and which video codec is installed on your server device (H.264 or H.265).
When using Hololight Space for HoloLens 2 and having H.264 installed, you can choose between the values 12Mbit, 24Mbit and 36Mbit. If H.265 is installed, the values available will be 8Mbit, 12Mbit and 16Mbit.
When using Hololight Space for Meta Quest 2/Pro, and having H.264 installed, you can choose between the values 50Mbit, 80Mbit and 100Mbit.
Export Log File
Here you can export the log file that documents the last Hololight Space session until the end. This is helpful for Hololight's Support team when troubleshooting, for example. The file can be saved to any location on your server device.
