Establishing a Connection between a Hololight Space Instance and Hololight Space (Client) on Cloud Basis

Establishing a Connection between a Hololight Space Instance and Hololight Space (Client) on Cloud Basis

Once you have successfully created a Hololight Space instance in the Session Manager, you can proceed to connect your Hololight Space client application for Microsoft HoloLens 2 or Meta Quest 2.

If you encounter any connectivity issues with Hololight Space, please refer to our comprehensive Troubleshooting guide.

This guide describes how to connect Hololight Space (Server) and Hololight Space (Client) within a Local Network.

Setting Up a Hololight Space Session

First, you have to access the web portal under "hololight.space" in a web browser of your choice on your PC. Log in with the login credentials you received from us previously.

Within the "Session" tab, please press "Seclect Region" and select the region that is geographically closest to you.

You can choose from:
  1. North Carolina, USA
  2. North Virginia, USA
  3. Ohio, USA
  4. Dublin, Ireland
  5. Frankfurt, Germany
  6. Mumbai, India
  7. Tokyo, Japan
Once a region has been selected, please press "Start" and confirm the pop-up notification via "Ok".

Your Hololight Space Session will now be instated. The display box should turn from blue to orange after a few minutes. The status should first be "Inactive" (gray box) then "Initializing" (blue box) and finally "Ready to Connect" (orange box).

The Hololight Space instance should now be ready to launch. The next step is to connect to the Hololight Space client application for HoloLens 2 or Quest 2.

Connecting your Hololight Space Session and Hololight Space (Client)

Establishing a connection between your Hololight Space Session and Hololight Space (Client) works similarly within HoloLens 2 and Quest 2. In both versions you can connect using your login credentials, although in HoloLens 2 you also have the option to scan the Connection QR Code.
Due to technical limitations, the Meta Quest 2 does not support QR code scanning functionality. Therefore, you cannot make usage of the Connection QR Code.

Setting up a Connection via Login Credentials

Launch the Hololight Space client application on your device and switch to the tab called "Cloud". There you can enter the login credentials that you also used to log in to the web portal at hololight.space and then press "Connect". The connection should be established shortly.

Setting up a Connection via Connection QR Code

Once you have a ready Hololight Space session, there should be a button called "QR Code Connect" displayed in the web portal. Click on it and your Connection QR Code should pop up.

Launch the Hololight Space client application on your device and switch to the tab called "Cloud". Press "Scan QR Code" and you will be prompted to scan the Connection QR Code. Proceed to do so and the connection should be established shortly.

If the QR code does not appear to be scanned, please move closer to the screen.

Terminating a Hololight Space Session

We encourage you to terminate any Hololight Space Session should you no longer need it. To do so, press "Shut Down" in the web application and confirm the pop-up notification via "Ok". If there is no user interaction, the session will automatically end after about 60 minutes — however, you can save minutes of usage by manually terminating the session.
