(Re-)Aligning Objects in the World Space
Hololight Space is all about working with your own 3D objects — and precise positioning of them in your work space is a key part of this. Our application offers several way to bind the positioning of your object to a specific location, according to your needs for improved working comfort.
The exact positioning of the object depends on its center. This center point is determined once the object is exported and is not defined by the Hololight Space application itself.
Align Object via QR Code
Please be aware that scanning QR codes in Hololight Space for Meta Quest 2 is not supported due to technical limitations. For this functionality, any generic QR code can be used, as long as it has a minimum size of 6cm x 6cm.
This option allows to place 3D objects in your world space based on a QR code. To do so, please place/attach the QR Code wherever you want the 3D object to be located (e.g. on the floor, on the wall) first.
Next, access the "Space Manager" menu and navigate to your object in the hierarchy. An icon with a QR code and a cogwheel should appear beside the name of the object. Tap on it to activate this function.
Once this functionality is triggered, you will be prompted to scan a QR code. Follow this prompt and a new window will pop up once the process is complete. If the scan was successful, the 3D object should now be placed above the QR code.
Drop To Floor
The effect of this functionality depends on the device used.
- When using HoloLens 2, the selected object is brought to the height level of the World Origin. For more detailed information on (re)aligning the world origin, see this guide on the subject.
- In Meta Quest 2, on the other hand, the object is placed on the floor of the work space (which is based on the floor level set by the user within the Quest 2 settings).
Access the "Space Manager" menu and select your object in the hierarchy. In the top bar of the "Space Manager" press on the "Drop To Floor" button. The object should now be at the level of the World Origin.
