Licensing of Hololight Space

The process of licensing Hololight Space is streamlined and user-friendly. Upon obtaining your license key (HoloToken), which is generated through our license management portal, you are on the verge of completion.

To ensure a smooth licensing procedure, it is imperative that all devices involved are connected to an internet-enabled network. This network connection is essential, as it facilitates the initial connection to the license server. Once the license token has been successfully read in, Hololight Space can be utilized in offline mode as well.

Technical context: After accessing the license token, a license check from the server is required. The server responds with a JSON Web Token regarding the validity. This requires that the Hololight Space application can reach the domain at "id.holo-light.com".
 
Alternatively, you can license Hololight Space at a later point in time (or not at all) and work in demo mode for the time being. In demo mode, however, you do not benefit from the full functionality of Hololight Space and cannot, for example, import and manipulate your own 3D objects.

Accessing the License Key "HoloToken" from the License Management Portal

Once a valid license has been issued to your organization by our Publishing team, you should have received an invitation link to our license management portal. Please also check your spam folder if no email has arrived.

Please create an account for the license management portal and click on the menu item "License".

The QR code containing the necessary license key (HoloToken) will be displayed in a new tab.

Click on the button underneath the aforementioned QR code reading "Download HoloToken" to store the license key as a text file on your PC (HoloToken.txt). 

Applying the License Key to Hololight Space

As soon as Hololight Space is launched, you will be working in demo mode if no license has been loaded yet.

If the Welcome Panel is enabled at app start, you can select the option "Activate License" to activate the license for your application directly here. 

Otherwise Hololight Space can be licensed at a later time via the "License" menu. For this, please access the "Main" menu and go to "Settings", then navigate to the menu item "License".

The licensing process itself is done either by scanning the QR code with the license key or by reading the file with the license key from the hard disk.

Licensing Hololight Space by Scanning the License Key

Due to technical limitations, the Meta Quest 2 does not support QR code scanning functionality. Therefore, you cannot make usage of the QR code with the license key.
Once you accessed the "Licensing" menu (either via the Welcome Panel or the "Settings" menu) tap on the button reading "Read License QR Code" and you will be prompted to scan the aforementioned QR code. Place the QR code close-by and scan it.

You should now receive a confirmation that you've been successfully licensed.

Licensing Hololight Space by Loading the License Key from Disk

Make sure that you downloaded the file with the license key from the license management portal and that its name is "HoloToken" (without file extension) and that it is of type "Text Document". Access the "3D Objects" folder of your server device and place the "HoloToken" file inside.

Once you accessed the "Licensing" menu (either via the Welcome Panel or the "Settings" menu) tap on the button reading "Load License Key From Disk" and Hololight Space will check the validity of the token.

You should now receive a confirmation that you've been successfully licensed.
