Downloading and Installing Hololight Space (Server) and Hololight Space (Client)

Utilizing Hololight Space necessitates the acquisition and installation of two essential components: the Hololight Space (Client) application designed for Microsoft HoloLens 2 facilitating an Augmented Reality experience, and its counterpart tailored for Meta Quest 2, enabling an immersive Virtual Reality experience. In addition, the Hololight Space (Server) application must be acquired and installed on your PC to complete the setup.

To ensure a seamless and optimal performance, we encourage you to consult this requirement guide , which outlines the minimum and recommended specifications for the server component.

Downloading and Installing Hololight Space (Server)

In a web browser of your choice please access the Holo-Light's webpage and navigate to "Downloads". Then select the "Hololight Space (Server)" tab and click the version you want to employ.

The necessary installation file will be downloaded automatically to your PC. 

Extract the content of the folder and run the installer following all prompts. We recommend using 7zip, as the native Windows 10 ZIP archiver may experience issues with long filenames/paths. If everything is set up correctly, the Hololight Space (Server) application should be installed within the "Program Files" folder of your PC.

Downloading and Installing Hololight Space (Client) for Microsoft HoloLens 2

The Hololight Space (Client) app can either be downloaded from the Microsoft Store or sideloaded through the Window Device Portal (WDP) for HoloLens.

However, we strongly recommend utilizing the Store version to stay current and up to date.

Downloading and Installing via Microsoft Store 

Go to the Microsoft Store on your HoloLens device and look for "Hololight Space".

Click on the "Get" button and, if you have not already done so, log in to your Microsoft account or click on "No, thanks".

Next, press on the button reading "Install on my devices" to install Hololight Space on your HoloLens. The Hololight Space (Client) app should now be among your installed apps.

Downloading and Installing via Sideloading

In a web browser of your choice please access Hololight's webpage and navigate to "Downloads". Then select the "Hololight Space (Client)" tab and click on the version for the HoloLens 2 which should be identifiable by the file name.

A ZIP folder containing the necessary installation file will be downloaded automatically to your PC. 

Extract the content of the folder and access the WDP. Install the application on your HoloLens by following these official instructions provided by Microsoft.

The Hololight Space (Client) app should now be among your installed apps.

Downloading and Installing Hololight Space (Client) for Meta Quest 2

The Hololight Space (Client) app can either be downloaded from the Meta Store or sideloaded through third-party software. In our guide we refer to SideQuest , but you can also use other applications for this purpose.

However, we strongly recommend utilizing the Store version to stay current and up to date.

Downloading and Installing via Meta Store

The "Hololight Space" client application will soon be available in the Meta Store.

Downloading and Installing via Sideloading

In a web browser of your choice please access Hololight's webpage and navigate to "Downloads". Then select the "Hololight Space (Client)" tab and and click on the version for the Quest 2 which should be identifiable by the file name.

The necessary installation file will be downloaded automatically to your PC.

Install the application on your Quest 2 by following these official instructions provided by SideQuest.

The Hololight Space (Client) app should now be among your installed apps.
When sideloading, it can happen that the downloaded application is not located in the "App Library" but under "Unknown Sources".
